Then the righteous will answer Him and say "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you? And the King will say to them in reply, "Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine you did for me." -Matthew 25:37-40
In following our hearts and sincere commitment with Stewardship, please join the Social Concerns Warm Nights Committee in hosting our 17th Annual Warm Nights Program during week of December 16, 2018 - December 23, 2018. This program is an opportunity for us to one again step forward in faith and love as we reach out to our less fortunate brothers and sisters.
The Warm Nights Hypothermia Program is sponsored by Community Crisis Services, Inc. (CCSI) of Prince George's County, a winter emergency homeless shelter program. The program rotates weekly at churches throughout Prince Georges County from November through April. As a host congregation, we agree to accept up to 25 to 30 homeless women, children, and men. The CCSI provides them with transportation to our church, employment assistance, general medical and mental health services and case management to assess their needs effectively. Our role is to serve a hot dinner meal when they arrive at 6:30 pm each evening, provide volunteers to assist with meal preparation and serving, arrange bed assignments, socialize with spiritual encouragement, serve breakfast and provide a bag lunch before leaving each morning at approximately 6:00 am. All cots and bedding are provided by CCSI.
We rely on the help of our ministries, volunteers, and canvasses of our neighboring businesses to offer any assistance that they can. If you can be of assistance, please contact the Ministry Leader.
